The Trail of Painted Ponies began in the summer of 2000. A major sculptor was commissioned to create a life-size horse that was cast in a durable resin blend. A call went out to the artistic community around the Southwest, inviting famous as well as emerging artists to submit designs that imaginatively celebrated the creative spirit. And the response was overwhelming, with results that ranged from the delightful to the breathtaking.  The figurines that are modeled after these originals have now become today's #1 collectible.  Our stores carry a wide selection of first edition, rare, retired, and signed ponies, as well as carrying all six of the seven of the exclusive ponies:  Phoenix Pony, High Desert Horsefeathers,  Maple Leaf Pony, Run for the Roses, Kindred Spirits, and the newly-released Grand Prix pony.

Ponies are released in "herds", every six months.  A release is generally eight new ponies.  In conjunction with each new herd, six figurines are retired, and no more will be made. Please visit our stores to see our selection of these rare, hard to find, retired ponies.

First edition ponies are considered the most collectible. Please click on the links or on the photo to see our selection of first edition ponies.  The longer a pony has been available, the harder it is to find first editions.  For information on edition numbering and a detailed complete checklist of all ponies, please see the Pony Collector's Guide link to the left.
Please use the form below to email us with any questions regarding our available ponies or to ask questions about Painted Ponies in general. Thanks for visiting Painted Ponies Fine Art!
